Setting off on a long journey, building the future. This journey will cross our country and smash through frontiers, bringing together communities, linking big cities and the farthest-flung villages. We’re on the path to the future, setting a magnificent challenge – bringing ultra-broadband fibre optics to every corner of Italy.
That is the aim of Open Fiber, a company that is jointly owned by Enel and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (a state-owned investment bank). It was set up to create an innovative network of ultrafast, efficient and widespread internet connections, and to help bring Italy into the digitalisation age. These connections are reaching homes in our cities and beautiful villages; small and large businesses, from Italy’s centres of farming excellence to its industrial and manufacturing zones.
In this way Open Fiber becomes the instrument, means and solution for facilitating the transformation of people’s lives. The new great project of the third millennium is the FTTH (Fiber To the Home) optical fibre, which will connect Italy – and by that we mean the entire country – to the rest of the world.
Open Fiber’s mission is to support Italy’s growth. We have decided to tell the story of this vision with “La Nostra Strada” (Our Path), starting with the recently launched trailer.
La Nostra Strada is a look at people’s real lives and the regions where they live, but it also marks a new beginning – the first chapter of a journey where we describe some of the projects we are involved in to create shared value for Italy and help build the future.
