Enel sets the standard in H&S for the electricity industry

Our health and safety protection procedures are setting the benchmark for electricity companies thanks to the new Elettricità Futura HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) Committee.

With over 700 operators countrywide, Elettricità Futura is the leading Italian association for the electricity industry. On 7 November in Rimini the association presented a technical-scientific committee that will develop and foster a culture of safety and environmental respect in the electricity generation sector. Launched at the 12th edition of the international Key Energy renewable energy and sustainable mobility fair, the HSE Committee will develop more efficient risk management strategies with the aim of achieving “Zero Accidents and Injuries,” thereby also helping to improve results on the prevention side.

Accounting for 87% of the total hours worked by all the companies involved, our Group is both a protagonist and a reference point for the committee thanks to our Lean Peer Review, “peer evaluation and review” approach instigated by Enel Green Power in 2009. So far around 800 reviews have been produced in all our Group’s Business Lines procedures. Enel’s experience was detailed at the Rimini event by HSEQ Holding HS Manager Maurizio Rossetto.

The Lean Peer Review offers in-depth evaluation of the main health and safety aspects of industrial sites and focuses on organisation, HS processes, their efficacy on the ground and their integration into the business, with an exchange of operational experiences and practices also. The experts carrying out the review and communicating with the staff at the industrial sites under evaluation are referred to as “peers” because they do similar work in their own companies. They use the same technical language as their colleagues at other sites and have the same skills.  By sharing their experiences and the results generated by previous LPRs, the peer teams can supercharge the efficacy of the Health & Safety procedures and this also helps make the model replicable.
