60 years of future and energy
Building an ever-better tomorrow
Enel is turning 60
Ours is a story of energy, people, innovation, sustainability, responsibility and courage. We were born in Italy but we gaze far beyond, with an open mind, to transcend all borders and electrify consumption in territories, cities, and communities.
On December 6, 1962, we were baptized Ente nazionale dell’Energia Elettrica, in a word: Enel, an acronym that today is synonymous with energy. Our mission was to “connect the dots” of an electricity industry parcelled out across the territory, with over a thousand operators, and carry out a vast project: the to support its social and economic development.
#Enel60 for Italy
A 60-second journey through one day of energy, from sunrise to sunset. 60 years alongside Italy to build a better tomorrow.
60 years that sounds good
On December 6 we celebrated our 60th anniversary with a special concert of the JuniOrchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, conducted for the occasion by Maestro Antonio Pappano. This event with young talented musicians confirms the values of a historic partnership that combines our propensity for sustainability with the world of art and culture, also through scholarships sponsored by Enel Cuore.
A illuminare la serata, l’installazione EYES WITH EYES.

Energy diary
60 years ago, we set out on a journey with big goals: to contribute to the growth of Italy and to make it an ever better place. Step by step we’ve built our story, made of people, passion and commitment to a path of innovation, technology, and renewables.
Our journey together continues with an eye to the future without ever forgetting our past.
