Training, awareness and environmental issues with a special focus on waste management were the topics discussed at the Supplier Environmental Day with our partners. The event, organized by Enel Green Power and Thermal Generation Procurement Italy and Enel Green Power and Thermal Generation HSEQ (Health Safety Environment and Quality) Italy, was held on November 23rd at the Acquoria hydropower plant in Tivoli, where we met with nearly 100 of our suppliers.

“Attention to environmental issues is a core value for us and it has to do with the present. Each of us as individuals, families or businesses must do our part and we must all be ambassadors in our   industry to raise awareness about this issue that has become urgent,” said Alda Paola Baldi, Head of Procurement Italy, also emphasizing how working with attention towards the environment can be a competitive advantage as well as being a contribution to a sustainable future

It is precisely this concept of “sustainability as value” that also guides us in the area of collaboration with our partners. Indeed, the monitoring of environmental parameters and the verification of waste management services are both of central importance to us throughout the value chain.

Because of this, we have adopted a pervasive environmental sustainability approach as an opportunity for growth for our suppliers during every step of the purchasing process. From the qualification phase, which involves the evaluation of environmental sustainability requirements and certifications, to the tender phase, with a continuous evolution of technical Ks from this viewpoint. And from the performance evaluation, to incentivize a path of improvement and reward virtuous practices, to finally arriving to a true support process in the energy transition through the Supplier Development Program.

The Supplier Environmental Day was the final chapter in a series of webinars on managing environmental issues. It provided an important opportunity for constructive dialogue and discussion with our suppliers on the topic of environmental sustainability, a common goal that can be achieved through constant monitoring, dedicated action plans and moments of sharing such as this one.

We believe that increasing awareness about these issues allows us to reduce the impacts on the environment, which is why we are committed to continuous improvement in our supply chain as well.
