Rome, 11 February 2004 Enel has won the 2002 Risk Management Award, which is given each year to the company that distinguishes itself in the management of financial risk. The award was instituted the British magazine Risk, a highly regarded European publication dedicated to the management of currency, interest rate, equity, commodity and credit risk.
Enel was singled out for the excellence of a financial strategy focused on reducing and stabilizing the cost of debt, rather than generating profits from the management of derivatives.
Enel is the first Italian company to win the award. Past winners include Johnson Controls (2000), Volvo (2001), Microsoft (2002), and Scottish Power (2003).
