ENEL ACQUIRES 120 MW OF NEW WIND POWER CAPACITY IN FRANCE

Enel continues to expand in renewables: with this transaction Enel’s French subsidiary Erelis closes in on objective of developing 500 MW of wind power by 2012. * Once completed, Erelis’ plants will supply renewable energy to 350,000 households, avoiding about a million metric tons of CO2 emissions per year. * Expanding in the promising French market is part of Enel’s plan to develop renewables and new technologies, with investments totalling 7.4 billion euros by 2012.

Rome, 13 June 2008 - Enel, acting through its French subsidiary Enel Erelis, today completed a major acquisition of new wind projects at various stages of development totalling 120 megawatts, some of which will enter service as early as 2009.

The transaction finalized today confirms Enel’s strategy to achieve a major position in France, where it recently signed agreements for the supply of wind turbines with a total capacity of more than 350 MW. Enel’s expansion in the promising French market is part of the global strategy to develop renewables and new technologies, with investments totalling 7.4 billion euros by 2012.

Enel Erelis, acquired in 2006, will develop wind farms with a total capacity of about 500 MW in various regions in France by 2012. Today, Erelis employs more than 30 experts in wind power development and already has one plant in operation and another two plants scheduled for completion in 2008. Once completed, Erelis’ plants will supply renewable energy to 350,000 households, avoiding about a million metric tons of CO2 emissions per year.
