- With its 30 MW, Vallée dArce is the main Enel Green Power wind farm in France.
- The companys total installed wind capacity in France now exceeds 68 MW.
Rome - Lyon, December 22nd, 2009 Today, 12 MW of wind capacity from Enel Green Power are entering into service in France with the installation of six wind turbines of 2 MW each at the La Druine site, in the Champagne-Ardenne Region. With the entry into service of La Druine, Enel Green Power has just completed its so far largest wind project in France, the 30 MW Vallée dArce wind farm.
Overall, thanks to the entry into service of the new wind turbines, the Vallée dArce wind farm will produce more than 75 million kWh per year. The farm will generate enough power to meet the annual energy needs of over 22,000 households. At the same time, the clean energy produced by the wind farm will avoid the annual emission of 60,000 tons of CO2.
In 2009 we put in operation 8 new wind farms for a total installed capacity of 60 MW and we confirmed our objective to expand substantially in France, where we see huge growth potential for wind and solar said Francesco Starace, President of Enel Green Power. The actual plants portfolio is a good base for the deployment of the ambitious development projects we have in France for the next years.
The Vallée dArce farm is bringing Enel Green Powers total installed wind capacity in France to 68 MW, which will generate over 150 million kWh every year. Additional 80 MW are under construction out of a wind pipeline totalling over 500 MW.
Enel Green Power is the Enel Group company dedicated to developing and managing worldwide energy generation from renewable sources in Italy and abroad. It operates some 4,700 MW in plants relying on hydro, wind, geothermal, solar and biomass sources in 14 countries in Europe and the Americas. With over 17 billion kWh produced annually, Enel Green Power is a European leader in the renewable energy sector.
