Rome, December 16th, 2010 - The first 44 MW of a total of 64 MW of wind power capacity entered service today at the San Floro Maida plant in Catanzaro, Italy.

The wind farm consists of 32 turbines with a capacity of 2 MW each. The system will be capable of producing over 150 million kWh of power annually, equal to the consumption of almost 56 thousand households, and will avoid the emission of about 100 thousand tonnes of C02 each year.

Meanwhile, work has also begun on the construction of the wind plant at Contrada Coniglia in Trapani, Sicily.

The new wind farm consists of 10 wind turbines of 2 MW each, for a total installed capacity of 20 MW. Enel Green Power expects the facility to start operations in early 2011.
Once completed, the plant will produce more than 43 million kWh per year, equal to the consumption of more than 15 thousand households, and prevent the emission of over 30 thousand tonnes of C02.

Currently, Enel Green Power has a total installed capacity of over 2,600 MW in Italy, of which more than 450 MW of wind power.
