With an installed capacity of 10 MW, the new Alvaiázere wind farm will deliver some 29 million kilowatt-hours per year to the grid.

Rome, January 25th, 2011 – Enel Green Power started operating a new wind farm in Portugal. The facility, known as Alvaiázere, comprises 5 turbines of 2 MW each, with a total installed capacity of 10 MW.

Once up and running, the new wind farm will be capable of delivering 29 million kWh, meeting the consumption needs of nearly 11,000 households, thus cutting CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by some 21,500 tonnes per year.

The first phase of the project will be followed by a second in which a further 8MW will be installed, bringing the installed capacity of the Alvaiázere plant up to 18 MW.

Thanks to the new plant, Enel’s total installed capacity in Portugal will reach over 140 MW, of which 96 MW from wind.
