The Kourtesi II photovoltaic plant, located in the Ilia region, in the Peloponnese, has just started operations. With an installed capacity of 4.8 MW, the plant is expected to generate 6.15 million kWh of power per year.
Rome, May 22nd, 2012 - Enel Green Power consolidates its position in the Greek renewable industry through the launching of two new plants a wind farm and a photovoltaic plant both located in the Peloponnese region. Thanks to these new power plants Enel Green Powers total installed capacity in Greece will reach 228 MW.
The first plant is the Corinth wind farm which spreads across the areas of Chlogos and Profitis Elias, near the city of Corinth in the north-east of the Peloponnese. This wind farm is composed of 32 wind turbines of 0.85 MW each for a total installed capacity exceeding 27 MW, and is expected to produce 57 million kWh of electricity annually.
The second facility, that has just entered service, is the photovoltaic plant named Kourtesi II, located in the Ilia region. The plant has an installed capacity of 4.8 MW and is expected to generate approximately 6.15 million kWh annually.
It is worth mentioning that the clean energy produced by both plants will reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by nearly 70,000 tons per year.
Enel Green Power is already present in the Greek renewables industry. EGPs wind farms, with a total installed capacity of 199 MW, are mainly located in Thrace, but also in Macedonia and Peloponnese, as well as in Evia, Crete and the Dodecanese islands. In addition, EGP operates small hydro plants in Central Greece, Western Greece and Thessaly, with a total installed capacity of 19 MW. Moreover, the Groups photovoltaic plants in Greece -including Kourtesi II- have an installed capacity of 10 MW.
