ITALIAN NETWORK ‘SUNNIER’ THANKS TO NEW ROOFTOP INSTALLATIONS FROM ENEL GREEN POWER AND ESSE

EGP installs six new rooftop systems in Abruzzo and Molise, for an installed capacity of around 4 MW, while ESSE – the equal joint venture between EGP and Sharp – starts operation of two 1.5 MW rooftop systems in Campania
EGP’s total installed solar power capacity tops 140 MW thanks to the entry into service of these six systems

Rome, September 14th, 2012 - Enel Green Power has strengthened its position in the Italian photovoltaic power market through the entry into service of six new PV systems installed on rooftops in Abruzzo and Molise, while Esse – an equal joint venture between EGP and Sharp – has installed two more in Campania. EGP’s total installed PV capacity now tops 140 MW thanks to the entry into service of these new systems.

The four systems installed in Termoli (Campobasso province, in the Molise region), have a combined installed capacity of over 2.3 MW, while those in Casoli (province of Chieti) and Nocciano (province of Pescara), both in the Abruzzi region, have a total installed capacity of approximately 1.5 MW.

Following their entry into service, these new facilities, installed on the rooftops of warehouses, are expected to generate more than 4.5 million kWh and avoid the atmospheric emission of over 2,300 metric tons of CO2 per year.

ESSE – the equal joint venture between EGP and Sharp focusing on developing PV power in the Mediterranean region – began operation of two systems for a total installed capacity of around 1.5 MW. The facilities, named Colbuccaro (Acerra 2) and Montegranaro (Acerra 1), are located in Campania. They are installed on the rooftops of 8 farm sheds and are expected to generate more than 1.8 million kWh per year, thereby avoiding the emission of over 900 metric tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. The installations were built using thin-film modules manufactured at 3Sun’s Catania factory (3Sun is a joint venture between Enel Green Power, Sharp and STMicroelectronics). The entry into service of these two new facilities brings the joint venture’s total installed capacity to over 20 MW.
