Plant completion will require an overall investment of around 130 million US dollars
Currently, total EGP installed capacity in Mexico amounts to 127 MW.
Rome Mexico City, November 22nd, 2012 Enel Green Power won a public tender, denominated Sureste I Phase II and organised by the Mexican governments electricity agency, for the construction of a 102 MW wind farm.
The plant will be located on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in the state of Oaxaca, an area characterised by high wind resources. Once completed, the new plant will be able to generate more than 350 GWh a year, enough to meet the rising energy demand in the country, which is forecast to grow by an estimated 4.5% annually.
The Enel Green Power wind projects load factor exceeds 40%. This means that the wind generators could operate for more than 3,500 hours equivalent per year, well above the European average.
Completion of the wind farm will require an overall investment of approximately 130 million US dollars.
The tender gives Enel Green Power the right to enter into a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Mexican Governments Comisión Federal de Electricidad.

Stated Francesco Starace, CEO of the Italian renewable company. The successful participation in the tender is a major step forward in Enel Green Powers growth strategy for Latin America.
In Mexico, the Company already has 53 MW of mini-hydro capacity and recently started operation at the Bii Nee Stipa II wind farm, with an installed capacity of 74 MW, for a total of 127 MW in the country and with development potential for another 200 MW of wind capacity, including the current plant.
