Madrid/Rome, May 10th, 2013 - Enel Green Power España (EGPE), Spanish subsidiary of Enel Green Power, has started operations at the 13.5 MW Ampliación Sierra del Cortado wind farm, located in Almenar de Soria, Castile and Leon region. The new wind farm will generate an estimated 42 million kWh per year.
The energy produced by the nine 1.5 MW turbines will avoid the annual emission of 31,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. The wind farm is owned by the Parque Eólico Sierra del Madero company, 58% held by EGPE and 42% by EDP Renováveis (EDPR).
Ampliación Sierra del Cortado marks the end of the construction of the plants included in Enel Green Power Business plan for Spain and is one of the last wind farms planned in the Spanish pre-registro. It brings EGPEs installed capacity to a total of 1,922 MW in Spain and Portugal and 455 MW in Castile and Leon.
EGPE is 60% held by Enel Green Power and 40% held by Endesa.
