Enel donates electricity grid connections to reception centers for Ukrainian refugees

  • With the "Allacciamo le energie" ("We connect energy") project, Enel connects the reception facilities for Ukrainian refugees managed by Italy’s Protezione Civile and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to the grid

Rome, May 5th, 2022 – Enel continues its commitment to addressing the humanitarian emergency caused by the war in Ukraine. With the "Allacciamo le Energie" ("We connect energy") project, the Group company that manages the medium- and low- voltage distribution networks is donating connections to its electricity grid or increases in power for the reception facilities, including temporary ones, that have been set up to manage the crisis.

Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of the technicians in Enel's Infrastructure and Networks, the structures set up by Italy’s Protezione Civile (Civil Protection Department) and the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) for receiving refugees from war-torn areas have been given free temporary connections to the grid. The connection of six structures has already been completed, for a total power of 132 kW: three in Liguria (Genoa, Imperia and Savona), two in Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Udine and Trieste) and one in Basilicata (Potenza).

Requests for connection by interested parties must be sent to the regional Civil Protection Department, which will then forward them to Enel.
