Twenty minutes and then you’re away. The electro-stop has arrived also for long distance routes. Since the first October, travelling by electric car between Rome and Milan has become reality. With the installation of 30 Fast Recharge columns, Enel’s network for e-mobility is moving beyond the confines of urban areas and enabling travel along the backbone of the country.
This is just the first step. Our 939 public recharging stations are already available today, predominantly in the cities, and these are set to be joined by thousands more all over the country in the coming years. This is the beginning of a new era that will revolutionize the habits of Italian citizens. The theme is at the heart of the new press advertising campaign developed by Saatchi & Saatchi for Enel, in which bright slipstreams of energy race along a motorway that turns towards a red-coloured sky. A dynamic image that combines movement and progress because the mobility of the future will not only be clean and sustainable but it will also be without limits.
Along the Rome-Milan route it is now possible to fill up with energy every 60 kilometres, coinciding with the motorway toll booths and shopping centres, hotels, restaurants, Italian Automobile Club offices and service stations. In each of these points there are Fast Recharge columns equipped with plugs compatible with all the models of electric car on the market. Further details can be found on the website esmartlife.it.
To celebrate the launch, Enel has organised four inaugural events under the title “Let’s get moving – electric mobility in Italy”: the first is scheduled for 17 October in Milan, a period in which the Forum AutoMotive is also taking place. At Via Cadorna 40 in Cormano, the unveiling of the first charging station will be accompanied by the activation of a totem with a LED display allowing viewers to see where all the other charging stations throughout Italy are located. On 19 October Enel will move on to Barberino where the official ribbon-cutting awaits; after that there’ll be a quick pit-stop at Florence’s service station to wrap up the day with the unveiling of the charging station in Val di Chiana. On 21 October, two cars driven by Francesco Starace and Francesco Venturini will leave the railway station of Santa Maria Novella in Florence in order to recharge symbolically at the station on Via Guidoni before the official inauguration transpires. The unveiling of the final station is expected to take place in Rome on 25 October.
