Your work and private life don’t have to conflict. Finding the perfect work-life balance is the key to a satisfying and stress-free career.
We know that everyone has different priorities outside of working hours – pursuing their interests, caring for their families and taking care of everyday events, both big and small. That’s why we developed People Care, a suite of programmes that support the psychological and physical welfare of our employees.
From promoting a healthy lifestyle to projects dedicated to safety at work, People Care aims to guarantee a harmonious environment in which people can enjoy the stimuli and social interaction they need, as well as specific help on issues linked to family and health.
We see People Care as a toolbox that ensures the working day is approached in the right spirit of sharing and collaboration, allowing personal perspectives and the development of the company to go hand in hand.
By working closely with trades unions over the years, we have developed a company welfare system that includes:
- supplementary healthcare - Fisde
- complementary pension - Fopen
- recreational and cultural activities - Arca
People Care also promotes initiatives dedicated to health and wellbeing, travel and looking after the family, as well as perks for employees to enjoy in their spare time.
Health and wellbeing
Initiatives focus on a range of different areas, but concentrate on the individual and their family.
The Sportello informativo sulla disabilità (Disability Helpdesk) aims to foster a culture of acceptance and awareness. It offers information on disability rights and the services available to people with disabilities and acts as a listening space where concerns can be aired.
C'è posto per te (There’s Room for You) is an initiative designed for pregnant employees, who can make use of a dedicated car parking space within the company garage. C'è posto per te – Legge 104 (There’s Room for You – Law 104), meanwhile, provides spaces for employees with serious disabilities as certified by the relevant local health authority committee.
Our culture of openness and sustainability also considers the needs of others. Enel per la vita (Enel for Life) promotes blood donation at Enel offices in Rome, Milan and Turin.
Sustainable transport is an important topic for Enel, so we believe it is essential to offer solutions to persuade people to choose more efficient, greener alternatives to their private car.
These include season tickets for public transport, which are available at reduced rates and delivered straight to the workplace. For those who prefer to travel by car, we promote car-pooling – putting colleagues from similar areas in touch so they can combine their commute – and car sharing, which allows employees to use a communal car for short periods of time. The sharing mentality extends to two wheels, too: our bike sharing service provides employees with a selection of bicycles to get around independently.
A company shuttle bus service can also be arranged where necessary to meet special requirements.
Employees can take advantage of a range of benefits when purchasing computers and school books. School books can be bought at a 10 per cent discount and paid for in instalments out of their salary. Home delivery is included – as it the chance to resell the books the following year on the company’s online marketplace. In addition, employees can purchase their work computer equipment every time it is upgraded (every four years). Here, too, the charge is taken directly from the employee’s salary and covers only the removal of company software and data.
Perks for employees’ spare time
Enel is more Open Power than ever before; the Libringiro book-swap programme is now in operation. Books can be reserved over the intranet and exchanged in dedicated areas of the company’s offices. There are sharing possibilities when it comes to hospitality, too; Home@Home puts colleagues from different cities and countries in touch, allowing them to organise a house exchange for holidays or business trips – a win-win arrangement that also expands your cultural horizons.
