Stories from the present
The territory’s energy as told through stories of our commitment
We are accompanying Italy on its energy transition path, creating value and furthering development for people and the territory.
Our renewable energy plants and technologies not only help to provide sustainable energy to millions of families and companies all over Italy, but they also represent an opportunity for growth for local communities by bringing concrete benefits.
Our energy flows through the territory: through the voices of those who make it possible, we share the projects, the innovations and the Stories from the present that will shape the future.

La Casella
La Casella BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) is located in Castel San Giovanni, in the province of Piacenza. Thanks to the innovative battery energy storage system developed at this site, with its installed capacity of 70 MW, it is now possible to store a large amount of electricity to distribute over the entire territory while ensuring high safety standards.
The plant is perfectly integrated into its surrounding ecosystem in full respect of the environment and biodiversity.
Villa Santa Maria
The Villa Santa Maria hydroelectric plant, dating back to 1959, is located in the municipality of Montelapiano, in the province of Chieti. Almost invisible from the outside, set back into the heart of the mountain, it is a basin-type power plant fed by Lake Barrea, where the water is collected thanks to a double-curved dam. The plant plays a key role in the surrounding territory, because, in addition to producing clean energy it brings numerous benefits in terms of sustainable tourism in all seasons and a positive impact on the flora and fauna ecosystem.
The plant is able to supply a yearly production equivalent to the energy needs of about 100,000 households and is an example of excellence in terms of digitalization and process automation. It represents a true story from the future arriving in the present day.
Casei Gerola
The Casei Gerola solar park, in the province of Pavia, was inaugurated in June 2023. The local community was able to actively participate in its creation through the initiative “Scelta Rinnovabile" (Renewable Choice) which gave citizens the opportunity to contribute with their direct support to the construction of the new photovoltaic plant. Using the sun’s energy, it produces energy equal to 7 GWh annually, which is able to meet the energy needs of the surrounding area.
The plant is made up of 8,500 photovoltaic modules spread out over 10 hectares of land. It is characterized by the use of innovative technological solutions such as bifacial modules and automatic trackers installed in the support structures, which allow the panels to rotate from east to west during the day thereby maximizing the production of energy.
Stories from the future become Stories from the present: we strive every day to grow together with Italy, putting innovation and sustainability at the center of our work. Keep following #EnergiaEnelTerritorio
