On the front lines for the Emilia-Romagna region

{{item.title}}

Our Group immediately took action from the very beginning of the emergency situation in the Emilia-Romagna region. CEO and General Director Flavio Cattaneo called up a dedicated emergency task force right away, which is in constant contact with local institutions, police forces, and the Regional and National Civil Defense in order to restore electricity service to customers affected by the outages. There are six helicopters for inspecting the lines that have been impacted by the events, allowing for transporting personnel and generators, with more than 700 technicians in the field, 170 electrical generators, and 9 power stations to provide emergency power. Flooding, overflowing rivers, and landslides have damaged sections of the power grid across the region, causing service interruptions.

The task forces have been working – despite the adverse conditions and difficulty in getting around, all of which have slowed things down – managing to restore power to almost 50,000 users since the beginning of the flooding.

Bologna’s Control Center is monitoring the situation 24 hours per day, working remotely on the grid and  coordinating the deployment of teams on the ground to continue to bring power back to customers left without electricity.

Our fundraising

In addition to being on the front line on a local level, we’ve also launched a special fundraising campaign in Italy: every employee will have the opportunity to help the people affected by the flooding emergency by donating an hour of their work time.

The money raised will be given to the "Un aiuto per l'Emilia-Romagna" fund set up by the Civil Defense. The company will also participate by making its own donation.
