Rome, 27 November 2008 – The Board of Directors of Enel S.p.A., chaired by Piero Gnudi, confirming the guidelines set in its preceding meetings, today gave its final approval to an overall contribution of 50 million euros to the special fund established pursuant to Decree Law 112 of 25 June 2008 to meet the nutritional, energy and health needs of needy citizens, who will receive a special “purchasing card” (also knows as the social card). Decree Law 112/2008 establishes that the fund can also be financed with voluntary contributions from companies and entities operating in the energy sector.

The initiative is consistent with the Enel Group’s commitments in the social solidarity and non-profit field. The contribution will be made through Enel Cuore Onlus, the Group’s organisation for corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The contribution will be paid in two instalments of 25 million euros each, with disbursement in 2008 and 2009.
