Giro d'Italia 2017: how much waste is recycled?

{{item.title}}

The 56 tonnes of waste produced during the last event were collected separately and 84% was then recycled. The environmentally friendly Giro d'Italia 2017, otherwise named "Ride Green" because the hundredth edition, has even more ambitious targets. The Pink Giro goes green in 2017: last year 216 volunteers worked at 77 collection stations to distribute 40,000 compostable tableware, over 400 containers and 15,000 waste bags. This year, the challenge is to do even better. Presently the waste cycle must be reconsidered according to the new circular economy paradigm, aiming at a balance between growth and sustainability, and therefore no longer linear (“produce, use and dispose”).
