Who was the first one to use the lenticular wheel at the Giro?

The Giro d’Italia is also 100x100 innovation. In 1984 Enel inaugurated the first photovoltaic plant in Vulcano, in Sicily, and the first wind farm in Alta Nurra. That year, the winner of the Giro d’Italia was Francesco Moser who, in the decisive time trial for the Pink Jersey, used a technological innovation, the first bicycle with the lenticular wheel, i.e. one without spokes and with a single lens-shaped structure that connects the hub to the rim. Moser, also known as the "Sheriff", had already used lenticular wheels to beat the hour record in 1984, previously held by Eddy Merckx. The Italian national cycling team also used wheels without spokes to win the gold medal in the 100 km of the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984. Nowadays, lenticular wheels are only used for time trials and tracks.
