When the first issue of Corriere della Sera was published on March 5, 1876, the Italian nation had not yet turned twenty. Since then, the Milanese newspaper has narrated the historic events that have touched our country spanning over three centuries, celebrating in 2016 the 140th year of its foundation with a series of activities and events throughout the Italia peninsula.
Five months after the local elections which involved major Italian cities, Corriere della Sera organised a series of events called “Agenda Italia”, in collaboration with Enel and Poste Italiane (the Italian postal service provider). During the events, the newspaper editor Lucio Fontana interviews the newly elected mayors, discussing the measures and plans that have been initiated to change the face of Italian cities.
The interviews focused on issues such as public works, energy, the environment, mobility, and culture. The first event, which was held on November 16 in Turin, featured an interview to the mayor of Turin Chiara Appendino, as well as also a discussion on the city, moderated by Corriere journalist Marco Imarisio and involving academics and representatives from businesses and institutions. The discussion included the participation of Enrica Baricco (President of the non-profit organisation Casa Oz Associazione Onlus), Paolo Damilano (President of the National Cinema Museum of Turin), Christian Greco (Director of the Egyptian Museum of Turin), Simone Maggi (CEO & Founder of Lanieri), and Enrico Pietralunga (Project Manager of Cablaggio Torino Metroweb), while author Paolo Giordano opened the event with a reading on the city.
The next events will take place in late November in Rome (November 22), Naples (November 28), and Milan (November 30).
