The electricity company is the first of the Italian companies included in the index by Thomson Reuters, which ranks 100 leading global companies with respect to their performance in these fields

For Enel, personal dignity, rights and equal opportunities are one with the business model and the challenges posed by the new scenarios of the energy sector. For this, the power company has long promoted a number of initiatives to enhance diversity in all its forms: gender, age, culture and abilities. This development system is receiving numerous awards at the national and international level.

After a rigorous selection process, our Group has been included in the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Index byThomson Reuters, the economic information multinational, which classifies the 100 leading global companies regarding the diversity and inclusion of its employees. A tangible reference to guide the investors' choices, the D&I index - updated every three months - was drawn up by Thomson Reuters after evaluating the performance of over 5,000 companies from different sectors and countries based on four pillars: Diversity, Inclusion, People Development and News Controversies.

Only the companies that managed to reach a score in each field received an overall assessment - the average of the four pillars - which led to the inclusion in the index of 100 companies with the highest overall score. Enel earned the 25th place in the ranking, with a rating of 74.75 points on a scale from 0 to 100. In particular, the power company is the first of five Italian companies included in the Top 100 and one of only two IPPs (electric utilities and independent power producers) present in the first 50 positions.
Enel also excels in the assessment of each of the pillars, having obtained the highest score among the Italian companies in each field and resulting "best in class 100" in  News Controversies.

"Enel's inclusion in the index shows how the Group has placed non-discrimination, equal opportunities and inclusion at the heart of an industrial strategy focused on innovation and sustainability", commented Enel CEO Francesco Starace,. "The improvements we work for every day require an inclusive and diverse environment, and the launch of this index that includes leading companies across a range of sectors and countries has highlighted once more the role of diversity and inclusion as motors of innovation, information sharing and the professional learning required to achieve the ambitions of a company. For this reason, diversity and inclusion are absolutely critical to our success, and I am pleased that the Group has received this recognition".

The Enel CEO is also a member of the UN Global Compact Board, the United Nations organisation formed by the world's top fifty companies that apply ethical principles regarding the protection of human rights, workers and the environment and the fight against corruption, of which the electric company is a member since 2004.
