At recycling school with Enel. Seventy primary school students from “Andrea Bafile” in Montorio al Vomano, in the province of Teramo, will study the culture of sustainability in three creative workshops dedicated to the environment and the recycling of waste material. And it is the young winners of the XIII edition of the 2017 “We are Energy” competition who have made the launch of this project possible.

This year the competition known as “Score the Goal”: We are Energy – open to the children of Enel dependants between the ages of 8 and 17 – focused on the Global Goals established by the UN, including the 12th Global Goal for sustainable development set by the United Nations for 2030 dedicated to models of renewable consumption and production. While on campus the boys and girls, through their eco-friendly behaviour, collected “energy balls”, which Enel decided to transform into concrete action to help the younger generation in Montorio al Vomano, hit last winter by the double effect of earthquakes and extreme weather. In conjunction with the municipality, three workshops dedicated to theatre, the artistic manipulation of materials, and environmental education (with an emphasis on recycling) for young boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 14 were designed to be run by the cultural association Il Rogo.

The first, called “Tri-cycling”, will see the students engaged in constructing toys out of recycled materials. The second, “Art&Trash”, will have them create a play on themes related to environmental conservation using costumes and objects (once again from recycled materials) they have made themselves; the final performance will see them then perform with members from the Rogo Theatre. The third workshop, “Creative labs”, is concerned with the creation of artworks through the use of recycled materials, which will thereafter be shown in an exhibition.

Begun on 10 October, the activities will run for four weeks. Growing through greater respect for the environment and the spirit of cooperation, younger generations too will be able to be the protagonists of the sustainable revolution set into motion by Enel.
