- The future of the energy supply in Slovakia was the main topic for discussion
Rome, 27 February 2007 Today Chief Executive of Enel, Mr Fulvio Conti and the Companys Chairman, Mr Piero Gnudi met with the Slovak Minister of the Economy, Mr Lubomir Jahnatek, to discuss upon Enel development plans in Slovakia.
Fulvio Conti underlined the importance of the future of energy supply in Slovakia where Enel has recently announced the companys commitment on the completion of 3rd and 4th unit of nuclear power plant at Mochovce.
Fulvio Conti said overall investment in Slovakia would total up to 110 billion crowns (approx. 3.2 billion euros) until 2013. The construction works for the two units are expected to start in the second half of 2007 while the two blocks will be completed by 2012. Apart from the Mochovce nuclear power plant, investment will also go to other power generation facilites, such as coal power stations as well as to projects in the renewables.
Enel, through its subsidiary, Slovenske Elektrarne a.s. has made all possible efforts in the last few months to speed up the collection of all necessary data for a proper and comprehensive evaluation of the project. To this extent Slovenske Elektrarne will start - ahead of schedule - the procurement activities for the construction works at the site so that the date for the completion of the two units can be anticipated.
Enels Chief Executive along with Piero Gnudi the Companys Chairman will join a dinner offered by the President of the Italian Republic, Mr Giorgio Napolitano on the occasion of the official visit of the Slovak President, Mr Ivan Gasparovic.
