The pedals are turning again. After having filed a historic edition, its number one hundred, which was among the most exciting ever, the Giro d'Italia is ready to kick off with another story, another Pink Jersey.
From 9 to 15 June, one of the world’s most important races for young people, the Giro d'Italia Under 23 will take place, for cycling talents dreaming to become professionals. Once again, Enel, Main sponsor of the race, will follow it daily through the social channels and the comments of an exceptional testimonial, Marino Bartoletti, already at the centre of Enel’s programming at the Giro. Moreover, Enel Energia's commercial stand will accompany the caravan of the Under 23 Giro in the seven legs of its 40th edition.
It starts on 9 June from Imola (Emilia-Romagna), and the arrival is at the former Formula 1 circuit. The final leg will be seven days later in Abruzzo, with a final sprint at Campo Imperatore, at a height of 2135 metres, remembering Marco Pantani who won for the last time right there. Almost a thousand kilometres in three Italian regions (Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo), where 29 teams will compete, including 11 foreign ones.
Therefore, an international showcase that comes back after four years. “We missed this race, which will help our young people to grow”, said Davide Cassani, technical roadside commissioner, true mentor of the project.
“Cassani's great enthusiasm matches values that are important for us. Enel and the Pink Jersey form an increasingly strong union - commented Carlo Tamburi, Enel’s Director Country Italy – We aim at supporting the country’s growth by helping young people in all fields, including in sports, to stand out. We are present throughout the country and we make every effort to be close, in a tangible way, to the people, especially in these three regions affected by the earthquake. We are on the territory, we want to be close to people especially in these three regions. We have always made efforts to be close in a tangible way, to give hope in the medium-long term. Close to this wonderful sport in this context and in this organisation.”
