Enel X, where customers meet new forms of energy

Distinguishing features: X. Enel’s Global Business Line e-Solutions, created in May of this year, now has a logo that perfectly defines its identity. Designed by Wolff Olins, the four points on the X symbolise four fields of action. Enel X is the division of our Group that aims to be one step ahead of the needs of our global customers, developing innovative products and digital solutions in sectors in which energy is showing the greatest potential for transformation: cities, homes, industries and electric mobility.

X as a multiplier of value

Presented in London in November for Capital Markets Day, when we explained our 2018-2020 Strategic Plan to financial analysts, the Enel X brand will officially appear on the market in 2018. The design of the logo recalls the filaments of a light bulb and the X symbolises a multiplication of value, but also the image of a intersection connecting the four cardinal points of the e-Solutions division: the business line e-City for public and artistic lighting, energy efficiency, security and fibre optic connections; e-Home for the development of smarter homes capable of reducing consumption and ensuring greater comfort and wellbeing; e-Industries for consultancy services, technology linked to energy efficiency, distributed generation and the creation of off-grid and Demand Response solutions and e-Mobility for the promotion of electric mobility through increasingly innovative solutions within reach of everybody, thanks to recharging infrastructure, V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) technology and second life services for batteries.

“The rapid transformations taking place across the entire energy industry are giving rise to new business models and creating new products and services. We are deeply committed to playing a leading role, with Enel X at the forefront of this new frontier.”

– Francesco Starace, CEO and General Manager of Enel

The New Power Economy

The aim is to create an ecosystem that we refer to as the New Power Economy. This takes full advantage of the great opportunities that digitalisation offers for the creation of shared value. In the future the established relationships between those who provide services and those who use them are set to transform: the trade in services, innovative ways to use energy and the creation of partnerships will make it possible to connect people, homes, companies and cities in a single network, revolutionising the concept of a utility. Enel X represents a further step forward in the strategy of Open Power. “A completely new way of perceiving energy,” explains Ryan O’Keeffe, Enel’s Director of Communications, “no longer intended as a raw material but as a service.”

“The great challenge is to transform a large utility like ours into a technology company. We are perfectly capable of succeeding because two years on from the launch of this project we now have the numbers and the technologies to dictate the rules of the game.”

– Francesco Venturini, CEO of Enel X and Head of the Global Business Line e-Solutions
