Report on Sustainability: shapers and leaders of the energy transition

Energy is a crucial facilitator for progress and growth. Without clean, accessible energy for all there can be no future based on wellbeing or widespread, enduring progress.

We regard sustainability as a key value which, together with innovation, drives inclusive growth in conditions of dynamic equilibrium.

That’s why it’s so important to be “shapers and leaders” of the energy transition that we are currently experiencing, working towards a model that is increasingly sustainable while remaining aware of the complexity of the context. Every day at Enel we are actively committed to creating long-term sustainable value for all stakeholders, thinking globally while acting locally, respecting and highlighting diversity.

Sustainability is becoming increasingly integrated into our industrial and financial strategies, creating value and synergy with the outside world, speeding up progress towards achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Enel has strengthened and enhanced this commitment, relaunching the objectives of reducing emissions, specifically CO2 (SDG 13: Climate Action), raising the level of interaction with communities, providing greater access to learning (SDG 4: Quality Education), energy (SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy) and jobs (SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth). This is in addition to introducing additional specific targets for SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).

These challenging objectives are made possible, thanks to the key role played by individual people inside and outside the company, with their aspirations, expectations, enthusiasm and, above all, inquisitiveness.
