Enel for the young talents of Santa Cecilia Academy

Christmas in Rome brightens up with the stars of the Auditorium Parco della Musica. Here, on Tuesday, December 6, the young musicians from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia – members of the JuniOrchestra – will perform in a concert sponsored by Enel and directed by a very special guest: the cellist and composer from Palermo Giovanni Sollima.

Sollima is an all-round artist who became well known at the international level after writing and performing the “Requiem per le vittime della mafia” (“The Requiem for Victims of the Mafia”) on the first anniversary of the attack at Capaci. He will follow on the success of last year’s opening edition, held in Auditorium Parco della Musica with Salvatore Accardo.

However, the true stars of the show – which will begin at 7.30 p.m. at the Santa Cecilia hall of the Auditorium – will undoubtedly be the 300 young people in Roman philharmonic, the first of its kind in Italy. In 2006 it was established and in 2013 it won the prestigious Premium Imperiale. Its first-class level is perfectly in line with the motivation of Enel’s sponsorship: providing light and energy for culture, with the aim to promote our country’s most talented young people.

The programme includes music by Rossini, Britten, Vivaldi, as well as Puccini, Pergolesi, Stravinsky, and Bernstein. To cap it all, a piece written by  director Giovanni Sollima, because the past should not overshadow the present, but should help see where Enel is ready to invest.
